MANILA, PHILIPPINES — In a move that puts money where the mission is, the Department of Education (DepEd) has officially bared its comprehensive schedule of bonuses and allowances for 2026, ensuring that public school teachers and personnel receive timely financial support straight from the national coffers. From health checks to classroom supplies, the government is ensuring that the people who shape the nation’s future don’t have to pay for it out of their own pockets.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara has emphasized that this structured release of benefits is a direct response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to prioritize teacher welfare . “When we take care of our teachers, we also safeguard the future of our students,” Angara stated, framing the disbursements as part of the “Bagong Pilipinas” brand of support for educators.

Here is a breakdown of the financial assistance Filipino educators can expect to receive this year, backed by the legal mandates and “sweeping policy reforms” that make them possible.
The Department of Education (DepEd) has unveiled its schedule of bonuses and allowances for personnel, offering timely financial support to public school teachers and eligible employees to address professional and personal expenses throughout the year.
- March: Qualified personnel will receive the Medical Allowance amounting to ₱7,000, intended to help cover health-related needs.
- April: The Clothing Allowance worth ₱7,000 will be released to support expenses related to official and professional attire.
- May: DepEd personnel will receive the Mid-Year Bonus, equivalent to one month of basic salary, serving as a significant financial incentive midway through the fiscal year.
- June: The Teaching Allowance amounting to ₱10,000 will be distributed to assist teachers in procuring instructional materials and covering other classroom-related expenses.
- November: Bonus In November, teachers may received, Cash Gift, Performance Enhancement Incentive (PEI) ₱5,000, (Sometimes) Early release of 13th Month Pay Equivalent to one month basic salary.
This structured release of benefits underscores the government’s continuing commitment to recognize the dedication and service of educators, while also ensuring that they receive practical financial support in the performance of their duties.
March: ₱7,000 Medical Allowance
Kicking off the second quarter, qualified personnel will receive a Medical Allowance of ₱7,000. This marks a monumental 1,300 percent increase from the previous rate of just ₱500, designed to cover health-related needs . According to DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2025, this benefit is granted to personnel expected to render at least six months of service, with processing expedited to ensure release before the end of the first quarter . The substantial increase is funded under Executive Order No. 64, s. 2024, signed by the President, and is intended to subsidize HMO-type health benefits for teachers .
April: ₱7,000 Clothing Allowance
In April, the spotlight turns to professionalism. Personnel will receive a Clothing Allowance worth ₱7,000 to support expenses for official and professional attire. As per DepEd Memorandum No. 028, s. 2025, signed by Secretary Angara, this allowance assists employees in complying with the new national uniform guidelines, which streamline dress codes across all DepEd offices and align with Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 16, s. 2024.
May: The Mid-Year Bonus
May brings a significant financial incentive for personnel midway through the fiscal year: the Mid-Year Bonus. Equivalent to one month of basic salary, this bonus is a standard entitlement for government employees. Consistent with guidelines for other government agencies, DepEd is authorized to process this incentive to provide a substantial boost to educators’ finances before the school year ends, with processing typically beginning around May 15.
June: ₱10,000 Teaching Allowance
Just in time for the start of the school year, June will see the distribution of the Teaching Allowance, amounting to ₱10,000. This substantial increase from the previous ₱3,500 aims to assist teachers in procuring instructional materials and covering other classroom-related expenses, finally addressing the long-standing issue of teachers spending their own money on basic student materials . This increase is mandated by the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act (Republic Act No. 11997), co-authored by Secretary Angara while he was in the Senate, which doubled the allowance starting in School Year 2025-2026.
November: The Year-End Financial Glow
As the calendar year winds down, November is positioned as the most lucrative month for DepEd personnel. The schedule indicates a trifecta of financial aid:
- Cash Gift: A standard government-issued cash gift.
- Performance Enhancement Incentive (PEI): Valued at ₱5,000, the PEI is provided under Executive Order No. 201 to eligible personnel to support and reward productivity in government service, on top of other bonuses .
- 13th Month Pay: Equivalent to one month of basic salary, this is sometimes released early to provide liquidity for the holiday season and is mandated by law for all government workers.
Legal Bases and Mandate
These releases are not mere acts of generosity but are anchored in law and specific department issuances. The increased medical and teaching allowances are part of “sweeping policy reforms” aimed at improving the welfare of public school teachers . The streamlining of benefits ensures compliance with standard accounting and auditing procedures, with releases contingent on the availability of the Notice of Cash Allocation from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) .
Furthermore, DepEd Memorandum No. 028, s. 2025, highlights the importance of adhering to the guidelines, ensuring that allowances like the Clothing Allowance are used for their intended purpose, thereby maintaining uniformity and professionalism across all DepEd offices and schools .
This structured release of benefits underscores the government’s continuing commitment to recognizing the dedication and service of educators, while also ensuring that they receive practical financial support in the performance of their duties
