Malacañang Releases Official 2026 Philippine Holiday Calendar Under Proclamation No. 1006

Manila, Philippines — Malacañang has officially announced the complete list of regular holidays, special non-working days, and special working days for 2026, giving Filipinos an early guide for work schedules, travel plans, and national observances.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Proclamation No. 1006 on Wednesday, September 3, with the proclamation made public on Thursday, September 4, formalizing the country’s holiday calendar for the coming year.

📅 Regular Holidays (2026)

These are paid holidays nationwide, recognizing key historical, religious, and national milestones:

  • New Year’s Day – January 1 (Thursday)
  • Maundy Thursday – April 2
  • Good Friday – April 3
  • Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) – April 9 (Thursday)
  • Labor Day – May 1 (Friday)
  • Independence Day – June 12 (Friday)
  • National Heroes Day – August 31 (Last Monday of August)
  • Bonifacio Day – November 30 (Monday)
  • Christmas Day – December 25 (Friday)
  • Rizal Day – December 30 (Wednesday)

🟡 Special Non-Working Days

Proclamation No. 1006 clarifies that national holidays for Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha will be declared separately, once their exact dates are determined in accordance with the Islamic (Hijra) lunar calendar and Islamic astronomical calculations.

The proclamation states that:

“The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos shall recommend to the Office of the President the actual dates on which these holidays shall respectively fall.”

This ensures proper observance of Islamic holidays in line with religious and astronomical standards.

⚖️ DOLE to Issue Implementing Guidelines

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has been directed to issue the official implementing rules and guidelines for Proclamation No. 1006, particularly on wage computation, holiday pay, and work arrangements for both public and private sectors.
